Kamloops Montessori Academy
Kamloops Montessori Academy is located on the corner of Greystone Crescent in beautiful Aberdeen. Our classroom is a calm, caring & peaceful learning environment that both children and parents love. The classroom is a carefully prepared environment that fosters independence, concentration, self-motivation and a lifelong love of learning. We believe our school supports the child's need for purposeful activities in an atmosphere of respect and encouragement.
At Kamloops Montessori Academy, we see that education is a never ending process and that learning is innate. Using Montessori materials and methods, our teachers are able to teach children about the world they live in through work within the curriculum areas. These areas are: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Science, Geography, Art and Music. The materials in the classroom are self-correcting and utilize all the senses in learning. Because the Montessori environment s designed to encourage freedom of movement, there is ample opportunity for a child's social development. We study subjects using a didactic, hands-on approach and enrich our learning through guest speakers and field trips. Lessons are given by a trained directress (teacher) to the child through group lessons or one to one interactions. Each students' individuality is cherished in an atmosphere that fosters independence, responsibility, freedom, self-esteem and respect.
Our school is multi-age spanning from 2 to 6 years of age. We find this span in ages a benefit because the older children help the younger ones creating a strong sense of community. In helping others, children reinforce what they have already learned and strengthen their sense of responsibility. The younger children in turn benefit because children love to learn from their peers and look forward to when they will be the older child able to help others.
The Kamloops Montessori Academy offers two preschool programs; a morning class that runs from 8:45- 11:15am and an afternoon class that runs from 12.30-3:00pm. Wealso offer early arrival, lunch and after school programs to meet the needs of our families.
In our early arrival program, students have the opportunity to drop off their child at 8:00am in a supervised class. The lunch program operates from 11:15am-12:00noon.
The after school program runs from 3:00pm-5:00pm and starts with outside play, planned activities and snack time.
At Kamloops Montessori Academy, we promote respect, independence, respect and kindness within our classroom, which is a great environment for your child to grow both academically and socially!
