Kamloops Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten
Welcome to our bright and cheery classroom. Located in our Main Campus at GreystoneCrescent in scenic Aberdeen , our centre offers a preschool and a well established full day program for children ages 30 months to six years. Our Montessori trained teachers guide and nurture the children supporting their natural curiosity to explore their world in a prepared environment that is bright, warm, inviting and interesting. Our kindergarten program meets and exceeds the BC requirements and supports the children in developing empathy and leadership as role models in the class. Our goal is to help children learn how to learn independently, retaining the curiosity and creativity with which they were born and to nurture a lifelong love of learning, with kindness, gentleness and respect. The “hands on” materials in the classroom encourage children to explore in a concrete way so the child may develop to his/her greatest potential. We have an individual education program for each child. Our setting is ideal for exploring the natural beauty of Kamloops as the children view the Thompson River, Mt. Peter, Mt. Paul, the city scape and as they observe the wonder of the changing seasons on our frequent nature walks. We enrich our program with visits from professionals in the community including The Wildlife Park, Secwepmc museum, the fire station, music and dance schools, as well as field trips to the Science Centre, the Art Museum, the pumpkin patch and garden nurseries, just to name a few.
Science and culture are important parts of our program as we learn about the world around us and we celebrate the multiculturalism reflected in our students. In addition to learning songs in English and French we offer Spanish classes and a weekly music class. Our setting includes anfull onsite kitchen where the science of cooking is experienced by the children. Our beautiful well equipped outside play area provides the setting where children can enhance their physical, social and emotional development. Please contact us for a tour. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to the wonderful environment of Kamloops Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten!

Lin Roth
A friend introduced Lin to the Montessori Method when her sons were preschoolers. She identified with the philosophy and began using many of the activities at home. She is once again using sandpaper letters and sharing in the discovery of the many wonders of our world, and enjoying every minute of it!
In addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree, Lin holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Education including specialties in Infants and Toddlers and Children with Special Needs, completed in 2002 at UCC. In addition to a Montessori teaching Diploma, Lin has a Library Aid Certificate with experience in elementary school libraries, and a background in teaching music. She began working at the Kamloops Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten in 2000.
A highlight for Lin was a trip to Italy in the spring of 2009 where she visited several Montessori schools in Rome and Naples. It was inspiring for Lin to see the site of the original Montessori school in the San Lorenzo district of Rome, which Maria Montessori began over 100 years ago, and to observe the classes there. Montessori truly is a universal philosophy of education dedicated to the whole development of children in all areas of life.

Dawn Boissonneault
Dawn was born and raised in Kamloops, BC. Being the eldest of 4 children she naturally began caring for children at an early age. She has coached preschool-age children in several sports such as skiing, soccer and swimming and ran an after school club for the City of Kamloops. Dawn began working at Kamloops Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten in 2007 and quickly discovered how amazing the Montessori Method is. She then pursued her ECE Assistant in the fall of 2008 and continues to attend various training workshops and seminars. In the spring of 2009 she moved up to Prince Rupert, BC where she worked as a support worker for a child with special needs. Joining us again this year she is very excited to be teaching at Kamloops Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten. She looks forward to what the upcoming year will bring!
